Loc’in it up!

The journey started on Nov 20, 2015.

I have now done a retwist (the fuzz was more than I could handle) and have introduced beeswax and Jamaican black castor oil into the routine.  The thing I will need to re-inforce in myself is that locing is not an excuse to not take care of my hair.  It will still need moisture.

More than anything I think this will be an exercise in discipline for me.  Discipline has not always been my strength and I am slowly trying to change that about myself. By slowly I mean, this might take the rest of my life, but whatever.

In addition to my interest in gaining more discipline through this process, I need to fall in love with my hair again.  I have been natural for 8 years, but I have struggled to find where I fit in on the naturalista spectrum.  These naturalistas do not play out here on the interwebs, y’all. For as many open and free loving naturalistas there are the polar opposite, preaching a strict doctrine of pressing your own avocado pits for oil.

Coils and curls are beautiful and should be embraced, and as the language changes about how we talk about our hair, I also need to make sure that I take it upon myself to continue to love my hair no matter what.

Let the journey continue, onward and downward (ha!)

Make Up!

If you are anything like me, knowledge makes you feel like an unstoppable warrior.  I have only been seriously dabbling in makeup for the last 6 months so when I kept seeing brushes on different vloggers sites I was completely clueless.  Then i stumbled upon this handy little guide.  Hope it helps you as much as it has helped me!

My Weekend Was Great, Possibly Better Than Yours

First of all I had to beat this face. No one get alarmed! For those not in the know, it means apply make up flawlessly.

Then I had to get my snack on! Fresh Hanover tomatoes with queso fresco, dill, s&p, EVOO, and red wine vinegar.

I also ate a burger made out of ground filet mignon and truffles from the Brux'l Cafe here in RVA.

Of course there were mimosas! Every expense was spared on the bubble but I am glad I splurged on these two mixers. The rose lemonade was my absolute favorite. It would also be a great addition to other cocktails or to drink alone.
I also saw some racist beer. To those not in the know, coupling the word "voodoo" with a screaming black doll is never acceptable.

Last but not least, my favorite candy had a limited edition out. It tasted exactly like Neapolitan ice cream and was heavenly. I would highly recommend a purchase.

If ever anyone wants to know more details about a product, recipe, or a process, just let me know in the comments and I will gladly oblige.  Cheers!
